Securus Technologies, Inc. Completes Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance
Press Release Apr 06, 2010
Dallas, TX - April 14, 2010 /PRNewswire/ - Securus Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of inmate communication services and offender and case management software design, announced that it has successfully complied with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002. The legislation set new or enhanced standards for all U.S. public companies and public accounting firms in providing financial information to the Securities and Exchange Commission through the annual Form 10-K filing. The act covers issues such as auditor independence, corporate governance, internal control assessment, enhanced financial disclosure and outlines criminal penalties for non-compliance.
Sarbanes-Oxley compliance signifies that an independent accounting and auditing firm has completed a comprehensive and in-depth evaluation and testing of Securus’ internal controls over financial reporting. The unqualified audit opinion, or compliance, confirms that the company has effective controls and safeguards in place to manage its financial information. Securus is the only inmate telecommunications platform provider to have complied with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
“We are extremely proud that our internal processes are operating at a high level,” stated Bill Markert, Securus’ Chief Financial Officer. “Successfully completing this vigorous third party independent review of our financial reporting controls sets Securus apart from the rest of the inmate telecommunications industry. Our experience in providing correctional facilities with telecommunications and investigative services for more than 20 years has allowed us to develop and implement important and effective systems necessary to accurately report financial information for our customers. This reinforces that our financial statements provide the necessary depth and accuracy required for investors, rating agencies and correctional facilities.”
