Imagine no longer having to move inmates, service long lines of visitors, and manually manage visitation schedules. What types of efficiencies could be gained by eliminating these burdensome tasks? Could you increase focus on the safety and security of inmates, your officers, and the public that you serve? With Securus Video Visitation, all of these things are possible.

Securus Video Visitation is a fully web-based visitation system that allows friends, family members, attorneys, and public officials to schedule and participate in video visitation sessions with an inmate – from anywhere with internet access using a smartphone, tablet or PC. Remote video visitation provides family and friends limitless opportunities to connect with an inmate by sharing everyday events like birthdays, reviewing homework, watching cartoons with their kids, attending a concert and opening presents on Christmas. Many studies have shown a link between inmates maintaining relationships with their loved ones while incarcerated reduces recidivism.

FEATURES

Scheduling

Securus Video Visitation is the most robust scheduling software available to the corrections market. The easy-to-use interface allows friends, family members, attorneys, and other visitors to easily schedule visits from any mobile device or PC connected to the Internet. Before being able to schedule a visit, the user must first electronically submit user information and photo identification. This allows your staff to have full control over who is allowed to schedule a visit – and also gives you the ability to restrict users based on behavioral issues. In addition, the scheduling platform is completely integrated with your Jail Management System ensuring that a visit is only scheduled during available timeslots.

Live Monitoring and Recording

One of the primary advantages of implementing Securus Video Visitation is the ability to live monitor and record visits. This capability will not only create new investigative opportunities, but can also have a real impact on reducing violence within jail walls. It gets better. Through the Securus Video Visitation interface, jail staff can easily flag visits for later investigative review and lock down recordings from being purged after the standard retention window expires.

Myths vs. Facts

Recognizing the need to provide for safe and secure visitation, Securus Technologies has invested over $32M in developing and deploying equipment, connectivity and software to make remote video visitation a viable strategy for correctional facilities to utilize.

Myth:
Securus Video Visitation costs visitors $20 per session.
Fact:
The average cost of a video visit is under $7.00 per visit. This is less than $0.30 per minute.

Myth:
All providers offer a video visitation application that conducts visits on any type of smartphone or tablet.
Fact:
Securus is the only provider that allows family, friends, attorneys and all other visitors to conduct a visit on an Android™ or Apple® smartphone and tablet.

Myth:
All video visitation providers are equal.
Fact:
If safety and security are of the utmost importance, then Securus clearly stands above all other providers. We provide the most secure visitation system by requiring all visitors to register and submit photo identification prior to visiting.

Myth:
Monitoring video visitation is difficult.
Fact:
Monitoring video visitation is actually easier than traditional onsite visitation. Once a visitor is approved, the facility can monitor up to 12 simultaneous live video visits at one time which increases the capability to stop suspicious behavior.

Myth:
Facility admin must manually initiate connecting video visits.
Fact:
Securus does not require the laborious intervention of a facility admin to connect all visits because of the required up front security processes that visitors must take to visit at the facility.

Myth:
Video Calling is the same as Video Visitation.
Fact:
Video calling is an unscheduled event that creates new security risks and lacks the security of traditional outbound communication. Video Visitation is a scheduled event designed to automate the visitation process and creates new investigative intelligence. This allows for full control over visitation with improved overall security.

Myth:
Remote visitation decreases the availability of visits.
Fact:
While opponents state the number of visits may be reduced given a direct charge for remote service, the fact is that overall visitation availability can be expanded through remote visitation. Remote visitation allows for unlimited hours and more involvement by visitors, and can be more cost-effective for visitors compared to traditional on-site visitation.

The system has drastically reduced the need for staff to handle calls from the public reference information on inmates. The system also is capable of handling many more calls coming in than staff could ever respond to. Inmates can also access their own information which has reduced "kites" by over 50%. Deputies are less distracted by inmates seeking information and can concentrate on their primary duties (safety and security of the facility). The automated system has streamlined inmate information access which has had a direct effect on operational efficiency.
